Publications
La publication scientifique, et plus particulièrement médicale, désigne différentes formes de communication permettant aux médecins de présenter les recherches et de s’informer des évolutions de la médecine.
Dans le cadre de la recherche clinique, lorsque les études sont terminées, les résultats sont généralement présentés dans un premier temps sous forme de résumés (abstract en anglais), communications orales ou posters dans différents congrès thématiques, puis sont publiés avec les conclusions, sous forme d’article dans des revues spécialisées.
Plusieurs indicateurs permettent d’évaluer « l’impact » des revues scientifiques, c’est-à-dire l’importance de leur lectorat potentiel. Au niveau international, l’indicateur le plus courant est le Facteur d’impact (Impact Factor, en anglais). Il est calculé en fonction du nombre d’articles publiés par an dans la revue, et du nombre de références par an aux articles publiés. Plus le facteur est élevé, plus le lectorat de la revue est important. Il est actualisé chaque année.
Dans la recherche hospitalière en France, l’autre indicateur utilisé est la catégorie SIGAPS. Pour chaque discipline, les revues sont classées de la catégorie A (excellent) à E (très faible), ainsi que la catégorie NC pour les revues à portée très restreinte. Depuis 2021, une nouvelle catégorie A+ a été créée, regroupant les 6 plus grandes revues scientifiques généralistes : New England Journal of Medicine, The Lancet, Journal of American Medical Association, Nature, The British Medical Journal, Science. Ces catégories sont notamment liées au facteur d’impact et sont également actualisées chaque année.
